All of our classes and curriculum are designed by our faculty of professional performers.
We've got classes for complete beginners through advanced-professionals.
Choose from daytime or evening classes for adults,
or evening and weekend offerings for kids and teens.​​

Intro to Tap for Kids
Ages 6+
Perfect for complete beginners or young dancers with minimal previous experience. Students will enjoy creating rhythmic patterns while learning introductory tap dance vocabulary and combinations. Students will work with STL Rhythm Collaborative faculty, who are also professional performers, to strengthen their balance, coordination, and musicality.

Tap 2
Ages 7-12
Perfect for beginners or young dancers with under 1 year of previous tap dance experience. Students will review and build upon basic tap dance vocabulary and explore a variety of movement patterns and combinations. Students will work on strengthening their balance, coordination, and musicality in a fun, collaborative environment

Tap 3
Ages 9-13
Prerequisite: Intro to Tap for Kids OR Tap 2 OR instructor recommendation
Tap 3 students will focus on strengthening endurance and perfecting tap dance technique, while continuing to expand knowledge of tap dance vocabulary. Students will learn about important tap dance artists and enjoy experimenting with improvisation

Tap 3 (Adv)
Prerequisite: 1 year of previous Tap 3 experience or instructor recommendation
Tap 3 Adv. students will perfect drills designed to improve endurance and strengthen tap dance technique, while continuing to expand knowledge of tap dance vocabulary. Students will become more comfortable with improvisation ideas and expand their knowledge of important tap dance artists and their impact on the art of tap dance

Tap 4
Ages 10-14
Prerequisite: minimum of 2 completed years of Tap 3 or instructor recommendation
Students will focus on building a solid technical foundation with emphasis on articulation of the feet, clarity of sound, and an understanding of basic music theory. Class activities will include improvisation exercises and rhythmic progressions designed to improve memory recall and endurance.

Tap 5
Ages 13+
Prerequisite: minimum of 2 completed years of Tap 4 or instructor recommendation
Building upon skills learned in Tap 4, students will place more emphasis on spacial awareness: weight shifts, floor connection, and relaxation. Students will work within a variety of rhythmic feels, incorporating dynamics, while improving their clarity of sound

Tap 6
Ages 13+
Prerequisite: minimum of 2 completed years of Tap 5 or instructor recommendation
Students will use their previous experience to dive deeper into the performance aspects of tap dance while studying historical routines that are practiced and performed worldwide today. Students will have a greater understanding of timing, space, and overall expression through tap dance.

Tap 7
Ages 14+
Prerequisite: minimum of 2 completed years of Tap 6 or instructor recommendation
Students in this level use their knowledge of tap dance to build intricate rhythm patterns and improvisational ideas. Students must demonstrate excellent technique and articulation of the feet. Students will continue to study music theory; having a working knowledge of different rhythmic feels, polyrhythms, and syncopation.

Teen/Adult Program
Teen/Adult Beginner Tap
Have you always wanted to learn to tap dance? Or, did you learn to tap dance when you were younger and want to get back to it? This class is perfect for you! STL Rhythm Collaborative instructors will introduce the basics of tap dance in a safe and supportive environment; focusing on building vocabulary, improving balance and coordination, and enhancing musicality.

Teen/Adult Intermediate/Advanced Tap
Recommended for students with at least 7 or more years of previous tap dance training, STL Rhythm Collaborative instructors will offer methods for improved speed, timing, musicality, and articulation of the foot/ankle. In addition to footwork and presentation, classwork will also include discussion of past and present tap dance artists/masters and the practice of their contributions to the form.

Advanced/Pro Tap
This fast-paced tap class is perfect for high level advanced tap dancers and professional tap performers with excellent technique. Students will work through exercises designed to maintain and improve endurance, timing, presentation, and exploration of rhythmic ideas through improvisation.
